9 June (11:00-16:00)

On Saturday, we transfer in to the heart of London for a visit to the historic Royal Institution where the eminent scientist Michael Faraday frequently lectured. After the General Assembly, we will enjoy lunch followed by presentations in the very same theatre that hosted Michael Faraday all those years ago.  Piccadilly and Regent Street are only a few hundred metres from The Royal Institution so partners have the option of seeing some of the major tourist sites or perhaps enjoying ‘Afternoon Tea’ at the Ritz or Fortnum & Mason.

At 16:00 we take our coach to The Tallow Chandlers Hall for a traditional ‘British supper’ with a tour of this incredibly interesting and historic building. The Worshipful Company of Tallow Chandlers is one of the 109 Livery Companies of the City of London. It began in the 1200s as a trade organisation. Today they support a wide range of charities, with a particular emphasis on education. Strong links are maintained with the oil and edible fats industries and particularly UK candle makers! You will also very much appreciate the fine artwork throughout the Hall and of course the fish & chips too!

At 20:00, our coaches depart for the Marriott Hotel in Twickenham but will stop near Leicester Square in central London for those who would like to spend some time in the bustling and entertaining West End. Those who choose to do this will need to make their own way back to the Marriott Twickenham by train or taxi.
